Besides sharing the union of love with all of your family and friends, the day of your wedding is one that you want everyone to remember and talk about for years to come because of all the fun. For this to happen, however, there has got to be entertainment and festivity that allows you and your guests to laugh, dance, interact, and enjoy yourselves. With the International Special Events Society’s (ISES) stamp of approval, here are some of this year’s international wedding entertainment trends according to New Zealand’s Association of Wedding and Event Planning.

A common debate over wedding entertainment is whether to hire a DJ or a live band. It really depends if you are more about dancing the night away to some of the hottest songs with your own personal playlist, or if you want your guests to enjoy classic covers performed live. Though more expensive, big bands are back and are terrific for traditional, romantic love ballads. Either way, you can set the pace and tone of your wedding and have certain songs cue the ceremony, toast, or first dance.

Another hot trend, besides fireworks, are fire performers. During the summer months, it is best to have your flame throwers go on right at dusk after the reception and before the dancing begins. You should obviously have this act pre-approved by your venue and make sure that there is adequate space for these performers so that no one gets hurt.

The photo booth has been in for quite some time now and is still a load of laughs, but if you want something more interactive, try the video booth. Have all of your guests share their favorite memories of you, best marriage advice, or a silly skit in a video message. At last, use social media and the ever so popular wedding hashtag to capture and share every bit of the night.
